Fried Cod Cakes

In Portuguese: “Pataniscas” de Bacalhau
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Serves: 4


  • 2 slices of salted codfish
  • 5 tablespoon of flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 onion
  • Parsley
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sunflower oil


Bake the cod in a pan;
Set aside the cooking water;
Shred the cod and add the flour;
Add the cooking water and stir until a paste is obtained;
Add the egg yolks and set aside the egg whites;
Add the chopped onion and parsley and the salt;
Beat the egg whites and add to the paste.

In a frying pan fry the paste in very hot sunflower oil, using a tablespoon to make small cakes.

Accompany with bean rice.
